Hillary Clinton: Making Her Own Name in the World of Politics

Hillary Clinton is the wife of former US President William Clinton. Aside from living behind the shadow of her husband, Clinton made a name for herself in politics having been elected as New York Senator. She was nominated for the presidency by the Democrats in the 2008 US presidential elections.

Clinton is Hillary Diane Rodham. She was born on October 26, 1947 in Chicago, Illinois. She is an alumna of the Yale Law School and the Wellesley College. She has her early leanings in politics having been influenced by Republican views when she was just sixteen. Her views started to shift to the Democratic view when she was at Wellesley College.

She met William Clinton while she was attending the Yale Law School. They got married in 1975. She pursued her own career even after marrying Clinton. Among her achievements are as follows:

·         Chairman of the US Legal Services Corporation (1977);

Clinton was actively involved in her advocacy for the rights of women and children around the world. However, the most challenging issue she faced was the rumored affair of her husband with a Whitehouse intern named Monica Lewinsky. In spite of the criticisms, the couple remained strong together.

After William’s presidency, Clinton continued her career in politics becoming the Democrat Senator in New York from 2001 to 2009.
